Each year, the Hospital For Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto admits on average of 13,000 children, performs over 11,000 surgeries, and sees over 250,000 children in the emergency or other clinics. Many of these kids/teens don’t get the chance to have a ‘normal’ growing up experience, because many are just too ill. (Nicole was one of those children, a couple years ago.)
SickKids hosts an annual prom at the hospital for the children to attend. They started this when one of their patients had to miss their own prom because they got sick at the last moment, and have done it every summer since. Often they invite local celebrities to attend this prom, but this year, we are trying to get One Direction to attend.
We* believe that these children deserve to get a chance to do what many of them have maybe dreamt of doing, but cannot because of their illness. Just because these children are sick, doesn’t mean they’re any less deserving than anyone else to get a chance to meet One Direction.
